DESCRIPTION

How is the druze formed?
Druzes can be formed in buried cavities that usually form gas bubbles inside igneous rocks, under tree roots, in remnants of lava after volcanic eruptions or even in animal dens.

After a while, the outer part of the hole hardens and the dissolved silicates and carbonates are preserved on the inner surface. In a slow process, minerals are strengthened from groundwater, which infiltrates and gradually forms crystals inside.

The sizes of the crystals that make up the druze will depend on the pressure of the gases in its formation: large (low pressure) or small (high pressure). Their colors and types of stones, on the other hand, depend directly on the place where they were formed and on the agents that made these druzes consolidate.

Difference between druze, geode and chapel

We cannot discuss the druzes without mentioning the geodes and chapels. As much as some people believe they are the same things, there are differences between these types of stones.

While the druze is formed by a flat surface on which are pointed crystals positioned next to each other, the geode, also known as "crystal cave", consists of crystals that grow lining the inside of a cavity, and can be found in miniature sizes that can fit in the palm of your hand.

The chapel, on the other hand, can be seen as the cut geode.
